23 Years of Island Magic

PIARC’s (Phillip Island Auto Racing Club) traditional Island Magic race meeting next month will conclude a flurry of activity for the club at the Island Circuit in November.

Commencing with the CAMS Australian Supersprint Championships on November 9th &.10th followed by a busy weekend of officiating for the Phillip Island 360 V8 Supercar Meeting on November 22nd to 24th ,the year will come to an exciting conclusion with Island Magic 2013 on November 30th & December 1st.

Island Magic 2013 will feature all the traditional races and categories including the 9th consecutive year for the CUE 1 Hour Victorian Tourist Trophy.

This event for exotic and well known traditional Sports Cars continues to grow in status each year and the organisers have no doubt the same will continue the trend.

A more somber feature of 2013 Victorian Tourist Trophy will be the first time in a number of years that Danish Sportscar star Allan Simonsen (who was tragically killed at Le Mans this year) will not feature.

Simonsen’s Australian team mate, friend and co-driver Ted Huglin has in co-operation with PIARC instituted a perpetual pole position trophy for the Victorian Tourist Trophy in memory of 3 time winner and current Lap Record holder Simonsen.

The other great events which include the iconic 50K Plate for Sports Sedans the fourth and final round of the 2013 Victorian Sports Sedan Championship, again enjoying local support from Ramada Resort Phillip Island and promising to provide great entertainment for all race fans.

Ramada Resort Phillip Island’s new General Manager Mark Fletcher has expressed his delight with continuing this partnership with PIARC and Sports Sedans as the Resort has become a cornerstone to providing great year round accommodation on the Island to all racing categories, racing teams, officials and fans alike.

The Sports Cars and Sports Sedans will be well supported by Improved Production Cars, Formula Ford and Formula Ford 1600, Formula Vees, Porsche 944s, and this year in the absence of HQ Holdens, Saloon Cars providing great Ford and Holden competition and of course those fabulous Historic Touring Cars of the sixties and seventies.

Island Magic will close the first year of racing on Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit’s new surface which cost over $3million and has resulted in excess of 20 Lap Records being smashed so far in season 2013.

Don’t miss this event as Island Magic is a great way for both competitors and spectators to finish up a years racing at Australia’s most picturesque and challenging race circuit with more Lap Records set to tumble.

Affordable admission to great motorsport is a budget friendly $30.00 for a weekend pass and accompanied kids under 16 are admitted free.
