2019 Island Magic Event Strip SD Pics

PIARC’s Island Magic 2019 this weekend has all the promise of a great Weekend’s Motor Racing with the CUE Victorian Tourist Trophy morphing into a one hour Enduro each day as opposed the previous format of two sprint races Saturday and an Enduro Sunday. The Sports Car Group has risen to the occasion with 30 cars competing.

The iconic Ramada Resort 50K Plate Sports Sedans Sports Sedan is once again the Final Round of the 2019 Victorian Sports Sedan Championship on the world’s most picturesque and exciting circuit. 25 of these loud and rarry machines will be awakening your senses with the likes of Robinson in his Monaro, looking to outpace Tamasi in the Calibra, Camm in the Corvette, Duggan in an Aston Martin, Lacey in his Camaro and the Tassy Devil, Alex Williams in his RX7.

The Victorian Historic Touring Trophy has great support with 26 vehicles from the 50s, 60s & 70s, GT Falcons, Camaros, Mustangs, Toranas, Cortinas, Capris along a 50s Citroen from Misuser Stupka, to get the nostalgia happening with a little Magic.

The Sports Cars are back for a 15th consecutive year for the CUE Victorian Tourist Trophy, and will see 30 exotics take to the grid with 4 Audis, 16 Porsches and a couple of recently imported new 2B Sports cars in the Super Trofeo Lamborghini Huracans supported by 2 Lamborghini Gallardos and an older LP560.

Richard Bendell’s monstrous 7 Litre SIN R1 550 is joined by his Daytona to go record hunting between them. A Lotus Elise and a Mustang GT are present to add to the spicy mix. How will they all survive the two one hour battles?

The Formula Vees are at it again with a compact field warming up for the 2020 Formula Vee Nationals at the Island mid next year. Watch this space for the date. Whilst Formula Ford open wheelers will also feature strongly, they will have a more a compact group of 8 of the current Duratec Cars dicing with the perennial Kent 1600s.

The Improved Production Cars headed up by Paul Rule in the Torana SS hatchback can expect a big challenge from Stoopman in the Mitsubishi EVO, Butcher in a BMW M3, Lloyd returning in VN Commodore along with perennial favorite PIARC Competitor of the Year 2018 McKay in the LJ Torana. Don’t overlook the other 27 Mazdas, BMWs, Nissans, Hondas and more all lurking in the field.

Porsche 944s helping keep up the Sports Car numbers, particularly Porsches with a total for the Marque of 33. Can Beller continue to sweep the field.
