Shannons Nationals Strip

The Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals returns to the world’s most picturesque circuit, Phillip Island for Round 3 of this year’s National Series on May 24th and 25th.

The Australian GT Championship returns to the Island for Round 2 of the 2014 Championship with even more of the world’s most exotica Sports Cars, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Moslers, Aston Martins, Mercedes Benz, Audis, Lotuses and American Iron in the form of Chev Corvettes and Dodge Vipers plus new for 2014 the fabulous McLaren MP4 12c of Klark Quinn. The GTs will have a change of format with a single 101 Lap Saturday race of the 4.45km seaside circuit.

The mind boggles, 450 kilometers of racing with pit stop action and an all-out attack on Jack Le Brocq’s 2013 GT record of 1.27.1505 set in the Mercedes Benz SLS which incidentally is the 4th fastest lap of the seaside circuit ever.

Whilst on the subject of Lap Record speeds the Radical Sports cars return with three 40 minute races, for the two classes, the 4 Cylinder 1500cc SR3RS and the 2700cc V8 engined SR8RX, which in the hands of Brit. James Winslow last year reset the 3rd fastest outright Lap Record of 1.25.9294 behind only the Formula 4000 record set by Simon Wills 14 years ago and Tim Macrow’s 2013 Formula 3 record.

The Great Southern 4 Hour for the Australian Manufacturers Championship returns for its second year celebrating the great racing of the 1960s & 1970s Phillip Island events, then known as The “Manchamps”, but now known as AMChamps with Mitsubishi EVOs, BMWs, Subaru WRXs and a host of other Hightec Turbo cars mixed with high performance HSV Commodores, FPV Falcons along with Japan and Europe’s best pocket rockets.

This race is a fitting tribute to say farewell to the recently passed, late great Harry Firth who masterminded Colin Bond in a Torana L34 to the 1974 Manchamp title 40 years ago.at the Island.

Capping off a great program is Round 3 of the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup with 2 X 1 hour Pro/Am races for the new for 2014 Type 991 Cup Cars.

This is the first time Carrera Cup has raced at the Island outside the umbrella of V8 Supercars and gives these fantastic machines a chance to shine in their own right with the only two driver outing for 2014

This meeting also sees 20 year old V8 Supercar wonderkid Scott McLaughlin step out of his Volvo V8 into Stephen Grove’s Cup Car as the Pro Driver

Qualifying and racing from 9.00am each day.

Weekend Pass only $35-00, accompanied, kids under 16 free. Daily admission available.
